The Avangard plant Sevlievo is established in 1962 on the basis of a metal working workshop. During its 45-year existing the plant changes its character and production several times. During the first 10 years the plant manufactures non- standard equipment for the energetic, transport automatic conveyers and different equipment for internal plant transport. During that period the plant is called Avangard.
Since 1968 the production of generating sets begins. ABB Avangard manufactures generating sets from 1 to 200 kW with manual or automatic operation. In 1971 the production of car starters begins. Since 1976 the production of minimum- oil circuit breakers type MMO starts its development. The breakers are manufactured for the National Electric Company and export for the former Soviet Union, GDR, Algeria etc.
In 1996 ABB Group bought 67% of the factory shares. Production of NSA disconnectors, and NRB afterwards, started. Then the production of disconnectors in ABB is transferred from Ludvika, Sweden to ABB Avangard. Now ABB Avangard is the only manufacturer in Europe of ABB disconnectors .

ABB Avangard exports disconnectors to Romania, Greece, Albania, Croatia, Macedonia, Hungary, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iran, Iraq, Israel, and Nygeria. In recent years the company directed its efforts to the markets of ex-Soviet republics. The first break-throughs are in Georgia, Ukraine, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
In Bulgaria our major customer is NEK, as well as Maritsa East Mines and the TPP, Lukoil Neftochim, Railways.
All products of ABB Avangard comply with IEC standards. The company works pursuant to
IEC 9001-2000,
IEC 14001-2004 and
OHSAS 18001-2007.
