2011-12-15 - The project, which will contribute to the environmental protection in the region, will be accomplished in cooperation with the Korean SDN company
ABB in Bulgaria will accomplish the 9 MW photovoltaic power plant under construction in the area of Silven, situated in the South-Eastern part of the country. The project is owned and constructed by the Bulgarian branch of the Korean SDN Company Ltd, a leading company in the building of photovoltaic power plants.
The photovoltaic power plant will contribute at decreasing the environmental impact of conventional power generation units in the area, meeting at the same time the EU requirements, that 10,25% of the consumed energy to be produced by renewable energy sources until the end of 2012.
As part of the project which is worth about $ 50.0 million, ABB is responsible for electrical AC part of the plant: design, delivery of equipment and materials, installation, testing and commissioning of inverters and dry cast-coil transformers. PV part of the project will be designed, delivered and commissioned by SDN Company Ltd. – branch Bulgaria. The project is expected for completion January 2012.
“Connecting renewable power to the grid represents a priority for ABB in Bulgaria. We are ready to offer to our customers tailored solutions, particularly in the photovoltaic domain, leading to smarter power networks, energy efficiency and environmetal protection.” – said Peter Simon – Country Manager of ABB for Romania, Bulgaria and Rep of Moldavia.
The SDN Company Ltd. has been cooperating with ABB since 2010, nowadays being the beneficiary of the ABB technology in the Solar power domain. Among the most important Photovoltaic Park Projects of the SDN Company Ltd accomplished by ABB in Bulgaria are the SAMOVODENE 20MWp solar plant, ZLATARICA - 25 MWp solar plant and OSTAR KAMUK - 5 MWp solar plant. ABB has accomplished the grid connection facilities (step-up substation 110/20kV, 110kV OHLs, rehabilitation of adjacent 110kV OHLs) and PV electrical AC part of the project (dry transformers, MV switchgears, LV panels) of the three mentioned projects.
ABB operates in Bulgaria through three companies in five locations, employing a total number of over 1000 employees. The three ABB production units are located in Petrich, Sevlievo and Rakovski.
ABB (www.abb.com) is a leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers to improve their performance while lowering environmental impact. The ABB Group of companies operates in around 100 countries and employs about 130,000 people.
